Aurgho Jyoti: “Material, Memory, Meaning” (Jul 2026)

School of Environment and Architecture
Mumbai, India

2026

Aurgho was invited to be a part of the lecture series at SEA Mumbai. The lecture titled “Material, Memory, Meaning” shared AUR’s approach to architecture through its current projects. “AUR aims to create meaning by understanding the production of architecture through migration, material, and memory. We craft histories of the future thoughtfully excavating histories of the past. AUR, और in Hindi, signifies the ‘other’ and signals a ‘prompt’. Architecture is perceived as a responsibility, and history as an instrument to facilitate cultural continuity, social equity, and material specificity. Architecture is seen as an intentional dialogue between space and time on one hand and material and labour on the other. The production of space remains a highly political act, contested through forces of migration, labour, climate, and colonialism.” (July 24, 2026)
